Jasmine Pigott

Adjunct Professor of Low Brass Faculty at the Peabody Preparatory

Dr. Jasmine “Jazzie” Pigott is a tuba player, composer, singer, spoken word artist, and writer based in Baltimore, MD. Believing in the power of representation, Jasmine is a performer on a mission to empower the next generation of musicians of color. With this mission, she has developed an international presence, having toured as a soloist around the US, Costa Rica, and Colombia; and she has placed in numerous solo competitions, including first place in Peabody’s Yale Gordon Competition and bronze in the Leonard Falcone Tuba Student Competition (the first Black woman to place in the competition’s 50-year history).

In July 2022, she released her first EP, Revolution, celebrating representation of Black composers, musicians, and styles. Jasmine is a co-founder and member of the Chromatic Brass Collective, a group devoted to women of color brass musicians. Outside of music, Jasmine ran a podcast Harmony and Healing, centered around health and wellness for musicians from July 2021 to September 2022. She holds degrees from Ithaca College (B.M.), Michigan State University (M.M.), and the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins (D.M.A).
