Adélio Carneiro
Born in Portugal, soon started is musical education at the Profissional Artistic School of “Vale do Ave” (ARTAVE). After
studying trompete he decides to change to the tuba as principal instrument.
Continued is studies in the National Superior Orchestral Academy in Lisbon, with professor Sérgio Carolino. In 2003 started your studies in Zurich with Professor Anne Jelle Visser, where finish the “Orchesterdiplom”.
He worked with the most prestigious pedagogues and internacionally renowned tuba playersas as Philippe Legris, Michael
Lind, Thierry Thibault, Melvin Culbertson, Gene Pokorny, Øystein Baadsvik, Stéphane Labeyrie , Walter Hilgers, Enrique Crespo, Shmuel Hershko, Roger Bobo, Gene Pokorny.
As a free-lance tubaist, he played with the Gulbenkian Orchestra, Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra, Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, Porto Symphony Orchestra Casa da Música, Filarmonia das Beiras, North Orchestra, Zürich Opera Orchestra and the Contemporary Music Ensembles “Orquestra Utópica”, Remix Ensemble-Casa da Música and Nuveum Collegium Zürich.
Since 2007 he has developed a recognized pedagogical career that has contributed to the development of the instrument and raised the quality of tuba performers in Portugal.
Currently, he continues to teach at the Lisbon Superior School of Music, is member of the GMS – Portuguese Brass Quintet, and the principal tuba guest of Remix Ensemble- Casa da Música.
